Pabna Zilla School (Bengali: পাবনা জিলা স্কুল)
is the oldest high school in the Pabna
District of Bangladesh and one of the top-ranked schools in the
country. It provides education from class three (grade-3) to class ten
(grade-10). It has two shifts - morning and day. The morning shift starts at
7.30 am and day shifts starts at 12.00 noon.Though it is a boy's school, it has
both male and female teachers. This school has one headmaster but it has
separate groups of teachers for morning and day shift. Pabna Zilla
School has a big
playground, three large buildings (known as the administrative building, the
academic building, and the science building), one hall room, a hostel and a
mosque as well. It has a well equipped computer laboratory and four individual
laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Agriculture.
History

was established as a "Anglo-Vernacular"
type of school between 1836-1840. The founder of the school was Babu
Digombor Saha and he was assisted by Babu
RadhaGobinda Mitra. Babu Ramchandra Nandi was the
headmaster during the period 1844-1853. In 1 Nov, 1853 the School became a government Public school (government funded and was
named Pabna Zilla School. In 1966-1967 the number of students were 717.
But now it has a wide range of teachers and students.

Admission
Generally, admission is permitted in class three,
six and nine once in a year. Admission into this school is very competitive.
After an initial rigorous screening, more than 3000 applicants are offered to
appear at a comprehensive admission test for only 240 positions. Application
forms are usually available during the first week of December in every year. A
number of coaching center has established in Pabna for this admission test.
Academics
This school teaches from class three to class
ten. Upon a rigorous screening in class ten, students are appeared at S.S.C.
examination. Each year about 2,50,000 students covered from north-west regions
of the country take part in this public examination under Rajshahi Education
Board. The S.S.C. examinees of this school always rank top in the merit
positions. Since its birth, it has produced a number of remarkable alumni who
have significantly contributed into the successful advancement not only of the
country but also of the whole world.
